Short-Wavelength Absorbing Complexes of Chlorophyll a in Micellar Solution of Cationic Detergents
نویسندگان
چکیده
Micellar aggregates have been prepared from chloro phyll a. Whereas most detergents including non-ionic, zwitterionic and anionic ones, produce aggregates with long-wavelength shifted and enhanced Q Y absorption, the cationic detergents hexadecyl-trimethylammoniumbromide and hexadecyl-pyridiniumchloride produce complexes with opposite traits: The Q Y absorption is shifted to shorter wavelengths, and it is hypochromic. The optical activity is increased as in the long-wave length shifted complexes, but the cd bands are non-con servative and coincide with the absorption maxima. The complexes are most likely small aggregates of chloro phyll with a changed geometry as compared to the “standard” ones.

Chlorophyll Photobleaching in Pigment-Protein Complexes
Pigment photobleaching was performed in thylakoid membranes of Hordeum vulgare (wild type, mutant Chlorina f2, Norfluranzon treated seedlings) and in pigment-protein complexes (CP-I and LHCP) isolated from H. vulgare and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Multiphasic kinetics were obtained in all of the above cases. Energy transfer towards pigments absorbing at longer wavelength is postulated as a gene...
متن کاملSimultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron, Cobalt and Copper by Partial Least-Squares Calibration Method in Micellar Medium
Iron, cobalt and copper are metals, which appear together in many real samples, both natural and artificial. Recently a classical univariate micellar colorimetric method has been developed for determination of these metal ions. The organized molecular assemblies such as micelles are used in spectroscopic measurements due to their possible effects on the systems of interest. The ability of mi...
متن کاملA New Thermodynamic Approach for Protein Partitioning in Reverse Micellar Solution
Reverse micellar systems are nanofluids with unique properties that make them attractive in high selectivity separation processes, especially for biological compounds. Understanding the phase behavior and thermodynamic properties of these nanosystems is the first step in process design. Separation of components by these nanosystems is performed upon contact of aqueous and reverse micellar phase...

The interaction between an ionic liquid (1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide or IL) and cationic surfactant (dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)) in aqueous solution has been investigated at various mole fractions and temperature 30 ˚C using experimental and theoretical methods. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of pure components and their binary mixtures, mixed micellar compositi...

Micellar complexes were prepared from bacteriochlorophyll a and bacteriopheophytin a with the cationic detergents, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and cetylpyridinium chloride. These complexes have spectroscopic properties (absorption, circular dichroism) which are very different from the ones formed with non-ionic detergents like Triton X-100, and also with anionic detergents. Bacteriochloroph...
